Guavas in the Philippines are grown wild. The fruits are round to pearshape, about 2 inches (approx. 5 cm) or less, and its flesh can be either white or pinkish with numerous small seeds. It has a strong charateristic aroma and a sweet-sour flavor. Guavas are also rich in Vitamins A, B, C, and niacin. It is in season from August to October.
When pureed. its aromatic flavor and high natural vitamin C content makes it suitable for candies, preserves, jellies, jams, marmalades (goiabada), and juices. In Asia, a tea is made from guava fruits and leaves.
