Mango is one of the most important and widely cultivated fruits of the Philippines. Among them, the native “Carabao” variety is the most popular for its superior taste, texture and aroma. It is also known worldwide as “Philippine Mango”.
Oval and heart-shaped, an average fruit is about 3 x 5 inches (approx. 7.5 x 12.5 cm). When ripe, it is a rich golden yellow in color, its flesh succulent and a delicious sweet and tangy flavor, wrapped around a single large and flat seed. Mango is an excellent source of vitamins A and C. It is in season from March to June.
The exotic aroma of the mango makes for a premium nectar drink; or provides that added twist to blended beverages. It is also used in preparing ice cream, baked goods and confectioneries.
